I'm weird and I know it!

Sometimes my brain works by song lyrics, so put this to "I'm sexy and I know it" and it makes more sense. Just one more little way I keep life exciting.

So I have been wanting to do this post for 2 reasons. One, to get it out there that I am kind of weird and kinda okay with it and two, so Crewe can know that weird is okay and cool, because of course his mama is the coolest of weird.

Oh and feel free to chime in at the end with how you are weird.... you know just to not make me feel alone here. ;-)

Here are some crazies about me:

1) I will wash, dry, fold and hang up 5 loads of laundry and it never fails I get to the last 3 or 4 items and just quit. It is like the thought of hanging up or folding 1 more piece is JUST.TOO.MUCH. Never mind that I just folded/hung 500 articles of clothing.

2) I take swigs of coffee creamer throughout my day as a sweet fix. In reality I probably drink about 200 of my daily calories in coffee creamer.

3) When the bath water runs at night I HAVE to have my feet right under it and I like the water to be like scalding hot.

4) Along with the coffee creamer. I snack on bacon bits all.day.long.! They have the perfect amount of salty and the texture is awesome (I really do eat healthy).

5) I absolutely, no questions asked, have to shave my legs every.single.day! I cannot stand the way unshaved legs feel on pants and sheets. I think I have some kind of sensory disorder.

6) I hate.hate.hate washing my jeans beacuase it makes me feel like I have gained 10lbs in my sleep.
Confession: I wear my jeans A LOT before I wash them.

7) I always have an organization project going on in my head... that will come to completion. Truth: my husband hates it.

8) I have been known, on more than 100 occasions, to make my bed 10 minutes before we get in it just so the sheets are tight. I hate feeling smothered in my bed sheets. Again... sensory issues much?

9) I could win an award for the amount of times I have rewashed clothes in the washer because I ALWAYS forget to put them in the dryer and then they will sit in the dryer until I have a load in the washer forcing me to fold them.

Daddy always ends up pushing the kiddie cart

I wanted to have 10, but that is all I can think of tonight. Trust me there are much more than 9 oddities about me.

Of course I mixed in some fun pictures, that have nothing to do with my post, which it make it that much more weird, to make me not seem quite as weird. That's a lot of weird.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Currently

So, I am already late on my weekly "Truths about Crewe" posts, but this happened last year around the holidays so I am not surprised. We are busy enjoying each other, the festivities and the feeling of the season. This is my absolute favorite time of year.

Our Christmas tree has been up since the first week of November. We have a mixture of Christmas and Thanksgiving scents burning in our home and presents slowing filling up the area below the tree.

This year we have chosen to bless 3 foster kiddos in the city we live in versus buying for each other. I really struggle with buying Crewe $200 worth of presents that he will outgrow in 3 months. I would rather buy him a few sweet, simple gifts to open on Christmas morning next to a fire...followed by a solid day of Christmas movies, a yummy breakfast and if we are lucky snow.

So here is our CURRENT

Listenting: I mostly have Christmas music via Pandora going 24 hours a day or Santa Paws is going in the DVD player. Crewe asks to watch that movie 5 times a day and they are coming out with Santa Paws 2 tomorrow. I am so excited to have 2 DVD's to rotate between ;-)

Planning:  On getting ALL of our Christmas shopping done and in the mail before December 1st as well as planning all the yummy treats to make for the holidays.

Wishing: That my dog would not shed at least 6 months out of the year. Momma is tired of sweeping the floor every.single. day.

Thinking About: What all Christmas traditions I want to start with Crewe. I really want him to grasp what the true meaning of Christmas is, but also have the warm fuzzy feelings of reading Christmas books... drinking hot chocolate, advent calendars, a Christmas Eve gift to open...a stocking next to his bed, Christmas breakfast, fires.....

Craving: Spagettio's... like every single night before bed. Might not be too bad of an indulgence if I did not smother it in cheese.

Looking Forward To: Traveling to Abilene to see John's mom (Grandma) and his family. They have a HUGE family get together on Thanksgiving Day... I think we max out at around 50 people, but there are a ton of kids running around on a big plot of land and it is always so fun and perfect.

Working on: Getting all the gifts wrapped and under the tree rather than on our kitchen table and doing some fun projects with Crewe.
He is really enjoying learning and exploring right now... so I am trying to put a few of my 127,325 pinterest pins to use. So far so good. He usually puts a twist to them, but I love watching his brain work.

Reading: Lots of "Go Dog Go" "Silly Goose" "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse""Brown Bear Brown Bear". I have also been working through the "Love Dare". So much insight on how to love your spouse well.

Feeling: Grateful... for the life God has given me and that it is mine to wake up to everyday. I wouldn't chose any other one if I had the chance. I am so grateful my husband is mine, my sweet little boy is mine, my bad days are mine, my encounters with God are mine. I am just so glad it is all mine.

Making me Happy: Having a healthy little one.. that was able to enjoy Santa and his reindeers this weekend. It makes me so happy that I have acorns clanging in my dryer from a certain 2 year olds pockets. That my sweet guy stamps his feet in protest to things because it means he has energy and is... ahem... gaining his independenc.

So what is your "Currently"?

Slow and Steady

Having projects to work on that you look forward sitting down to do is soooo... fun in my book. It makes me want to have a project constantly going.
Before Crewe was born if I started a project EVERYTHING in my life was put on hold until I finished that project.

Now that Crewe is here, I have tried that approach and it has not gone over so well for our family. Quickly I have come to be okay with projects taking a bit longer to complete so that we can maintain some sanity in our household.
Untightening that grip on things that are so engrained in who I am is hard, but most days refreshing. I like being able to look at myself and see that I am adaptable and capable change. ;-)

I would go so far to say that it has allowed me to ease up a bit on feeling like I have to clean up the toys in our house that accrue 10 times a day.
Now don't get me wrong... I still do my 20 minute shake down before guest stop by, because in my head they are going to ask to see a tour of the whole house, even though they hardly ever do... which then makes me want to force offer a house tour just so my hard work was not in vain.

It is also important so that when they walk out of the door I can look at my husband with my
"SEE? It was worth the temporary insanity for me to clean the cobweb's, scrub the bathtubs, mop the floors" face.

All that to say I have 2 big DIY projects going on right now which makes blogging slow for me. The first one being

THIS
Crewe's Halloween Costume

And the second
THIS
DIY tufted headboard- love it? Yes! Very time consuming with a toddler? Yes

That being said.. here is a photo sneak of our past week-ish

Mommy and Crewe went to the grocery store for the 2nd time by ourselves in 2 years;
however, it will become a regular, now that Mommy expereinced 11:00am Wal-Mart
lines versus 7:00pm Wal Mart lines.

Hung out with our favs again
Enjoyed some yummy pancakes
Searched for water while being chased by coyotes

Had some drinks at a rooftop bar, which was FAB by the way

Made 42 buttons.... my thumbs are still numb
And finally slept off our late night partying ways
Hope ya'lls week is going just as fab!

Last Week

Wow! I think this is the first time in my blogging life I have gone a whole week without posting. Between a toddler, house renovations, and this new "kick A" company I am working for. I have very little free time.

Seriously ya'll if you are looking to supplement or replace your income THIS company is where it's at. My customers are losing 3 to 6 inches after 1 wrap. I am making a good part time salary after just 2 weeks, working completely from home. I am shooting for diamond though, which will pay $10,000 if I hit it by June 30th. Yes you read that right 10K. I would love talking to anyone interested! It will change your life.

Check out these results
This is after 2 wraps!

I have been praying that God would bless this journey for my family and that I could be a blessing to others through this. Last Friday I was able to chat with a lovely lady who lives in Chicago that contacted my because of my blog post on the wrap. How random, but how neat!

Last week we had a play date with the cutest kid, Nixon. Isn't that the cutest name ever? Oh and did ya'll know that when ducks mate they look like they are killing each other? I had no idea! Cassie and I thought they were just picking on a little duck so we started launching playground gravel at them to let the little one try and make a break for it only to find out it was males and a female. Weird! They looked like they were trying to gouge her eyes out.

This picture is my favorite. Sad faces don't get more heartbreaking than that.

Crewe decided he was OVER going to the hardware store.

We covered EVERY inch of our house in plastic in preparation to texture our ceilings. Don't ask my husband how he felt about that. I FINALLY settled on a paint color for the dining and living room.

We drank way to much of this at night
And made several trips for ice cream

And we find the simplest things to play with. Usually Daddy comes up with the cool ideas! And DANG, love my hottie of a husband!

Whew that was exhausting

Happy Mondays!

This, That, and a Recipe

I officially get an F- in blogging this week. I know ya'll are sick of hearing all my excuses like.....the house renovations, my new obssession with the Ultimate Body Wrap, and did I say house renovations???

I have a super fun 15 months post about my little munchie coming on Sunday as well as a WINNER for the contest. Yay for whoever wins, get ready to see some tightened, toned, and firm skin and hopefully some inch loss.

Ok, ok, I have been in a rambling state of mind lately, onto the recipe.

.

Popeye's Favorite Lasagna

This was my first time making this casserole. I tweaked it some to appease my protein loving honey.
So, so easy to make! I love the casseroles that you just mix together, layer, and pop in the oven.

Here's what you need (minus the pineapple) plus some Mozza

Mix egg, spinach, ricotta cheese, mozza cheese, and spinach soup mix, salt and pepper to taste
Sidenote: I used the vegetable soup mix because Wal-mart did not carry the spinach. I would stick with the spinach soup mix. The veggie was ok, but not fantastic.

We had to call in some Aunt B support for a babe who wasn't feeling great. Kisses make everything better.

Now start layering, tomato pasta sauce, then the no bake lasagna noodles

Add the mixture and then a layer of chicken

Repeat that same layering again then add a layer of noodles and tomato pasta sauce. Sprinkle with some mozza and pop in the oven for 30 minutes

Easy, peasy, cheesy, healthy and super yummy

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, weight Part-skim Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 Rotisserie Chicken
  • 10 ounces, weight Package Frozen Spinach, Defrosted And Drained
  • 1 package Knorr® Cream Of Spinach Soup Mix, 1.8 Ounce Packet
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 cup Shredded Asiago Cheese/ Mozzarella
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 12 ounces, weight Jar Of Tomato Pasta Sauce, Or Your Favorite Homemade Sauce
  • 10 whole No-cook Lasagna Noodles
  • ½ cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

How to make:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Begin by mixing together the ricotta, spinach, Knorr® Cream of Spinach Soup mix, egg, asiago cheese, salt and pepper.
2. Then begin layering your ingredients into an 8×10-inch glass baking dish. First lay down a layer of tomato sauce so that the pasta does not dry up. Next add the pasta and layer it so that there are no holes through to the sauce below. On top of the pasta, spread a layer of the spinach mixture, a layer of chicken, then add a layer of sauce on top of that. Repeat the layers starting with pasta. Do this 1 more time but top the last pasta layer with sauce rather than the spinach mix. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.
3. Bake in a 350 F oven for 30 minutes or until center is warmed through and cheese has melted. Serve immediately.
4. If you have leftovers, cover the glass baking dish with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerator till ready to eat. Then either reheat the whole dish in the microwave or slice out individual servings and reheat on a plate in the microwave. Flavors really seem to meld together after a night or two in the refrigerator.

Little man hasn't been himself for almost a week now and we had green coming out of his eyes and nose today, so it was wonderful seeing this smile emerge again tonight.

Have a great weekend. We will be spending lots of time outside.
